Day 151/366: The goons!
This was Wednesday, and by this time, the teachers (and many more with them, the ones that pick up trash, lot of other city and state employees, among other everyone in my department except me and my coworker in Bergen so we were super busy!) had been on strike for a week As I am writing this, it has been almost two weeks with no school for the kids. The challenge has been to figure out where they can be - one thing is to let my oldest be home alone a couple of days, but not weeks on end. And of course, the youngest cannot be home alone.
We have managed with partly letting them come with us to work, partly having my parents over or let them be with my parents at the cabin, since they are retired. The blonde in the photo is one of the girls' best friends, and her dad works at the same place as me. They only have each other at the time, his parents live far away and his mom is sick. so, she has joined our girls for most of the time. This afternoon they wanted to make fruit salad, and went to the store by themselves to pick out the fruit. They did a great job, it was very tasty! They even thought to buy a lemon to squirt over it so the apples and such would not brown.
