Day 170/366: Morning wait

Day 170/366: Morning wait

Shot this just down from where I live, while waiting for my ride to work... I had a meeting quite early and having to get the girls ready for school as well as an almost one hour long bus commute would have made me late for it... so good thing my friend Bjørn Olav works at the same place, and that he was going a bit early as well this day, so I could hitch a ride with him - it only takes a bout 10-15 minutes to get to work by car. Sad but true! While I am glad there is a way to get to work by public transport, it does suck it takes such a long time.

Day 169/366: Friends and pavlova

Day 169/366: Friends and pavlova After spending most of the day packing and cleaning and organizing and doing laundry, Bjørn and his daughter Maja came over to get some info on taking care of Emma's guinea pig, since he is staying with them while we are in Greece for 10 days starting June 20th. I told him they might as well eat dinner here, and he was not hard to persuade! We had gyros with leftover lamb, home made tzasiki and yummy potatoes, and for dessert I made pavlova. It was a hit as always. I have nailed the making of the meringue, which can be tricky.

Day 168/366: Failed stress reliever

Stress relief failure

I have been kinda stressed lately, so much to organize and fix at the same time - everything from juggling bill payments, to different things I have to attend and plan out for the girls at the end of the school year, and make sure they have the right things with them on school days that are unusual now at the end of the school year, to pack and prepare and plan for the trip to Greece (Tolo in Peloponnese) on June 20th, not only for myself but the girls of course, and then my parents who are also going calling many times a day about the situation in Greece with the election, the banks maybe being emptied of Euro, and all kinds of other things in that regard... and of course having a full time position to keep up with as well, where it has been extra hectic as of late since so many of my department in Leikanger went on strike for more than a week, and they got way behind and now we all have to try our best to catch up, and it gets to be too much. Today was just one of those days I felt the pressure way heavy. I hopped on the bike, because usually exercise helps relieve the stress. It didn't this day though.

Felt a bit better the next day when I felt I got a bit headway on most of the things I tried to organize.

(ps, seeing Spongebob and Patrick in this pic made me smile :))

Day 167/366: Bergen light rail

Day 167/366: Bergen light rail Had to take a different bus to work today than my usual one, and the one I took went through the city. It makes for different photo opts than I have on my regular route. Here, we passed the light rail train that was just leaving the city.

Day 166/366: Being present

Day 166/366: Being present

Be a rainbow in someone else's cloud.
Maya Angelou, Letter to My Daughter

If you have your attention on what is see its fullness in every moment you will discover the dance of the divine in every leaf in every petal in every blade of grass in every rainbow in every rushing stream in every breath of every living being. ...beyond memory and judgement lies the ocean of universal consciousness.
Deepak Chopra

I have quite a few photographer friends who are heavily dependent on their cars to get around. Both due to distances they have to commute every day, but also due to layouts of where they live, and the lack of possibilities to walk a lot on foot, or a lack of public transportation that will require that they walk to and from their homes to the public transport stops. I've always told them we see the world differently almost. Sometimes i envy them the reach and easiness they get with driving to new places or things they want to see and photograph. But, sometimes I feel they miss out on so much that can be found on the journey itself. I experience so much more of the smaller details every day. I get to be much more present in my own life in a way.

Like this tiny rainbow I caught a glimpse of as I  was walking through the city park here in Bergen, Norway, from a bus stop to the culture school where I was about to  attend my oldest daughter's end of the year piano concert.
